Description
The professional 72-member ensemble, directed by George Duke & Mitch Glickman, is uniquely dedicated to:
•Commission symphonic jazz compositions, a musical genre that blends the American language of jazz with European orchestral traditions.
•Perform commissioned works in concerts throughout the United States.
•Inspire the next generation of listeners through specially designed Family Concerts and Community Outreach Programs, which served over 3,000 young people and their families last year.
The ensemble debuted in 2002 and has performed concerts throughout Southern California including UCLA's Royce Hall, CalArts' Walt Disney Theatre, and the Ford Amphitheatre in HOllywood.
