Description
The Sustainable Economies Law Center (www.theSELC.org) is a SF Bay Area nonprofit that provides legal resources, education, and advocacy to support practices such as community-supported enterprise, urban agriculture, cooperatives, barter systems, resource sharing, and local currencies. These activities inhabit legal gray areas that make it difficult to organize and operate without encountering legal barriers and risking liability. SELC maps out this legal landscape, educating communities about the limits and possibilities of these activities, and advocating for laws that clear the path for innovative and inclusive economic development.
