Description
The mission of the Susan Curtis Foundation is to build the individual character, self-confidence and self-esteem of economically disadvantaged youth in Maine, through the provisions of a tuition-free high-quality camping, educational and social experience.
Founded in 1971 as a non-profit charitable organization and named for the daughter of Governor Kenneth M. Curtis and Pauline B. Curtis after Susan’s death from cystic fibrosis. Today, the Susan L. Curtis Foundation endeavors to overcome the effects of poverty- a devastating disease of the spirit which can cripple a child’s dignity and aspirations. Today, the Foundation works year-round with teachers and school professionals to give these deserving children a "hand-up" in life and enable them to reach their dreams.
