Description
We work with low-income families to help them achieve self-sufficiency. We help them stop the slide into deep poverty by teaching them to advocate for their rights in relationships with landlords, public assistance agencies, schools and other organizations. We provide individual and small-group tutoring for parents and children, along with nutritional education, to reconnect them to the joy of learning. We promote access to mainstream banking to help families avoid predatory lenders and check-cashers and we engage parents in innovative activities they design and carry out to develop leadership and encourage peer support.
