Description
Collection, conserving, and interpreting the communities of Sugar Creek in Boone, Montgomery, and Clinto Counties of Indiana. The Sugar Creek Historical Society (formerly named the Society for the Preservation of our Indian Heritage) publishes, promotes family and local history through programs and activities, offers a summer architecture camp with Historic Landmarks of Indiana (winner of 2006 AASLH award), maintains a 1864 Gothic Revival house which is the homr to the Thorntown Heritage Museum, and recreated Victorian Garden, both used to teach, as well and enjoy aesthetically.
Collections are specific to the culture and history of the served communities. SCHS seeks to offer lifelong learning experiences for students of all ages, abilities, and interests.
