Description

Straydog is a no-kill dog shelter/sanctuary with a population of over 120 dogs located in East Texas near Gun Barrel City (75147).

We rescue homeless or abused, unwanted dogs, get them healthy and work on adopting them out to loving, individual family homes.

We spend a tremendous amount of money to provide the dogs with necessary medical care, nutritious meals, grooming, walks, play times and exercise, and giving them loving attention to meet their emotional and physical needs.

We adopt out as many dogs as we can but adoptions are slow due to the overpopulation problem. Every Saturday we take a van load of dogs to a Petsmart near Dallas for our Saturday Adoption Day.

For funding we rely on individual private donations with only a few donations coming from grants from foundations.

We have been successfully keeping our no-kill dog shelter afloat since October 1994.
