Founded in 1954 by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, Straight & Narrow is a not-for-profit health, social service and community development organization. Since its inception more than 52 years ago, Straight & Narrow has developed treatment and prevention programs in response to emerging and systemic needs of the community. At the core of Straight and Narrow’s response to each of these needs is the commitment to the Catholic Charities mission of “…providing help – creating hope…” The largest provider of addiction treatment services in New Jersey, Straight & Narrow's residential men's, women's and adolescent treatment programs serve nearly 250 people daily. Other programs include outpatient treatment, methadone treatment and medically-monitored detoxification. Our community-based programs include the Adult Medical Day Care Center and two apartment buildings for adults living with HIV/AIDS, the La Vida Child Care Center and La Vida Child Care Center Too.
