Description
Established in 1949 by a handful of citizens concerned about soil erosion and environmentally responsible land use practices, the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association is a non-profit membership-supported, conservation organization headquartered in Hopewell Township, New Jersey. We are dedicated to protecting clean water and the environment in the 265-square mile region drained by Stony Brook and the Millstone River.
We conduct four core programs in pursuit of our mission: education, science, advocacy, and land protection. SBMWA provides more than 350 environmental education programs a year, conducts stream monitoring at more that 30 locations and restoration projects to address degraded waterways, advocates for state and local policies to protect the environment, and manages an 860-acre nature reserve that hosts more than 10 miles of hiking trails and the largest community supported organic farm in the country.
