Description
The mission of Steven's Hope for Children is to provide housing and other essential needs to the families of seriously ill or injured children during a child's extended treatment and care while away from home.
When a child needs an organ transplant, radiation therapy or treatment for a serious illness or injury, travel to a specialized hospital may be required. A child may be discharged from the hospital in as little as ten days after transplant. Because of possible organ rejection or reaction to medications, the child and parent caring for the child may be required to stay within a 10 to 15 minute radius of the hospital for months. This added living expense, increased medical costs and a potential reduction of income from a parent being away from work and home, can become emotionally and financially catastrophic for a family.
We currently serve Loma Linda University Medical Center and San Antonio Community.
Between hospital and home, there is hope. Steven's Hope.
