Step Up! will mobilize the citizens of Horry County and the broader coastal community to meet critical needs through volunteer civic service and community projects, thereby increasing civic engagement.

Step Up!, as a newly formed organization, will create a centralized infrastructure for volunteer management, which will increase civic participation, transform neighborhoods and communities, and activate the democratic process. Step Up! will work to provide service opportunities for people whose schedules and life challenges inhibit their active involvement in traditional volunteer service. It is vital for everyone — working people, families, students, and seniors—to be able and encouraged to participate in the development of their own communities. In the Horry County coastal area, where the population continues to increase, it is particularly important that newcomers can be part of this on-going effort to create strong, healthy communities.
