Description
The STAR Center is non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring that all individuals with disabilities or other special needs have access to the technology tools and support services they need to fulfill their goals of education, employment, and independent living. The STAR Center was founded in 1987 by an all-volunteer staff in a donated schoolroom. It is now the largest assistive technology center in the nation both in scope of services (18 programs) and numbers served. Our programs serve children and adults with any type of disability and of all ages (ranging from 3 months to103 years). Another important part of The STAR Center’s mission is to serve as a national model so that leaders from other cities, states, and countries can learn how to replicate our programs in their communities.
