Description

Founded in 1985, St. Malachi Center (SMC) is a family and community resource center. The mission of St. Malachi Center is to empower the individual, nurture the family and build the community. Our vision is to be a vibrant, safe harbor where individuals and families are transformed through spiritual, educational, and social programs. We meet basic needs of the homeless by offering showers, clothing and toiletries and also serve educational, social, economic and spiritual needs of entire families. We serve people of all ages, especially families and youth. Through our After School Program and Youth Club we provide literacy and homework help, computer time and field trips for children, who come mostly from nearby public housing. Every week volunteers run health clinics and support groups for people in transition from homelessness. This is just a sampling of the variety of our programs that help our neighbors help themselves.
