Description

St. Bernard Parish was one of the hardest hit area in the New Orleans/Gulf Coast region during Hurricane Katrina. 100% of St. Bernard Parish was under water. Some houses, schools, and businesses only had a few feet of water, while others had water over their roofs. St. Bernard Parish is struggling to get back on its feet, and they need a lot of help. All of the schools that were in St. Bernard Parish were damaged and could not reopen. A group of teachers banded together and formed St. Bernard Parish Unified School. They are doing a great service to the entire Parish and all of the children that were abruptly removed from their homes and schools.
