Description

SportsChallenge Leadership Academy is the nation’s leading youth-serving leadership and sports nonprofit. SportsChallenge was founded in 1996 by career educators who believed there was an opportunity within the culture of youth sports to inspire student-athletes to be more open, confident and broader minded. Over time, SportsChallenge evolved into something more dynamic, teaching young men and women to see themselves as difference makers not only in the athletic arena but also in the world around them. Since our establishment, we have directly impacted over 4,000 students, athletes and coaches through our Summer Academy, National Coaches Institute and year-round workshops.
Our flagship program, the Summer Academy, is a selective, national leadership and sports program that brings together 125 varsity basketball, soccer and lacrosse student-athletes from all different backgrounds. The Summer Academy uses a holistic approach to sports-based development by cultivating student-athletes’ physical, mental and leadership skills. Beyond the 150+ page research-based curriculum, the extraordinary mentoring and unique culture, it is the lasting relationships built across vast racial and socioeconomic divides that is often the most powerful experience. Our student-athletes leave empowered to make a difference with newly acquired life skills to bring back to their teams, schools and communities.
