Description
Special Gifts Theatre Inc. is a not for profit group founded in 2000 to offer drama programs for children with physical, cognitive, social, emotional and learning disabilities. The group performs a fully staged musical production each winter. We currently have 60 members paired with 60 mentors, who make up two casts and a long waiting list for both. The mentoring program matches each child with a non-disabled peer. Mentors attend all classes and rehearsals with their theatre buddies and are onstage with them during the performances. Cast members meet once a week to learn the plot, their lines, spots on stage, lyrics and melody. Last year they performed the Wizard of Oz. It was truly amazing to see.
