Description
Mission: To sustain and perpetuate the art and cultures of Southeast Alaska Indian tribes in a manner that honors ancestral values. Founded in 1969 by the Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp #1, in partnership with the Sitka National Historical Park, NPS; incorporated as non-profit in 1993, known as Cultural Center or SEAICC (pronounced "sea-ice"). SEAICC is governed by a 5 member Board of Directors. Membership is open to the public ($15; $10 students/sr. citizens). SEAICC offers demonstration, instruction and interpretation in the traditional arts of the Tlingit, Haida & Tsimsian cultures., with a collection of contemporary Tlingit, Haida & Tsimsian artwork. Collection is comprised of artwork by master artists and students from 1969 through the mid-1990's. We continue to collect artwork of contemporary students and Tlingit, Haida and Tsimsian artists. SEAICC is funded through its partnership with the NPS, through public and private grants, donations and membership dues.
