Description
SAIL, Inc. is a private non-profit, non-residential center that serves Southeast Alaskans of all ages with significant disabilities, as well as seniors. As an Aging & Disability Resource Center as well as an Independent Living Center, SAIL offices are community based information and referral centers, managed and staffed primarily by people with disabilities. Some examples of the consumer-directed independent living services SAIL offers are peer counseling, advocacy, independent living skills training, Older Blind Alaskan/Low Vision program, Assistive & Adaptive Technology Loan Closet, Deaf Services, Interpreter Referral Line, Benefits Planning, Outdoor Recreation & Community Access, Community Disability Awareness & Etiquette trainings and assistance in making a successful transition from a nursing home back into a community setting of choice, also called deinstitutionalization. Our service area stretches from Metlakatla to Yakutat and everywhere in between.
