Description
Winners of three Grammy awards, SSHS choirs, orchestras and bands consistently place in the top three at state competition. SSHS is the ONLY high school band in Amercia invited to play at the 2008 Summer Olympics. The diverse student body comes from established neighborhoods of professionals and politicians as well as a economically-challenged homes. Over 70% of all students study French, German, Japanese, Russian or Spanish for 3 or 4 years . SSHS has been an International Bacclaureate Organization school for nearly 10 years. SSHS is overflowing, with a long list of in-district student tranfers. The building is deteriorating, some classrooms are not usable, and the auditorium, built in 1917, is in need of major renovation.
