The South Bay Center: The Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Transgender Community (LGBT) organization provides a focal point for the members of our community in the South Bay for education, social interaction, personal growth and political power. Our goal is to foster greater public understanding of the LGBT community.
The South Bay Center (SBC) has maintained an active presence in the South Bay for more than 17 years, satisfying the needs of the LGBT community in a geographic area not served by the nearest centers in Long Beach and Los Angeles. Initially, activities were held in private homes, in rented public facilities, or out-of-doors. In 1990 the Center opened its first facility. In 2002, SBC moved to a larger facility to accommodate growth in our constituency and to form an alliance with Being Alive to share space and resources while reducing expenditures.
