Description
Our Mission is to place and train Service Dogs or Therapeutic Companion Dogs with United States military veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). Our Goal is to help the PTSD patient recover from their symptoms and help them adjust back into society.
Once the veteran or active military member is accepted into our program they will be paired with a dog adopted from a local shelter or with a dog already owned by the vet. They will live together from that point forward. With advice from our PTSD therapist and dog trainers a task list will be designed for each veteran and their dog. Training will be comprised of private and group sessions 2 days a week for up to 30 weeks. Once the dog is fully trained in the individual tasks it will be certified as a service dog or classified a therapeutic companion dog.
