Description
Social Health Association provides unique programming to central Indiana schools by offering school-based sexuality education, including HIV and STDs, presented by degreed teachers with multiple years of experience in their fields of expertise, and with instruction based on the Academic Standards for Health Education as prescribed by the Indiana Department of Education. Sexuality education remains an area of community controversy for most central Indiana communities. School corporations realize that they are less likely to have controversy if they can provide the services of professionally trained teachers from an outside resource rather than by relying on their own cadre of teachers who are often fearful of teaching the topic. They depend on SHA to provide guidance and insight and to help educate community leaders and parents with factual information on the need for sexuality education within the school’s educational program.
