Description

The SJL Christian Leadership Academy Inc. was founded to provide early intervention and constructive alternatives for at-risk youth ,ages 6 -14, and their families in high-risk neighborhoods. The program was developed to equip the youth with the practical skills needed to become productive, self-disciplined and achievement-oriented teens and future leaders. Our communities have issues such as school dropouts, teen pregnancy, and gang/drug violence. The Academy identified a need in these communities where the youth are showing leadership potential, but are in need of support and guidance to gain better direction and to realize success. Our program involves the whole child, extended family and community. It incorporates a academic skill development, theater and arts training, cultural activities, mentors, and leadership development.
