Description

The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) Foundation is dedicated to advancing scientific knowledge and developing innovative, clinically-sound therapies that lead to improved patient care and quality of life.

SIR Foundation currently has promising research projects underway in the areas of uterine artery embolization, skeletal interventions, and interventional oncology. In addition, SIR Foundation is developing clinical trials in the areas of carotid disease and venous disease.

SIR Foundation seeks to advance the medical specialty known as “interventional radiology,” which uses procedures that generally replace surgery and offer less risk, less pain, and less recovery time compared to surgery. Interventional radiologists use imaging to guide catheters through the blood vessels or through the skin to deliver the right therapy to where the problem is – without surgery.
