Description
Simoneon Center - 501(c)(3) non-profit since 1981. Educates parents, schools, professionals on atypical development. Provides referrals to professionals, agencies, schools & other resources to families. Occupational & Speech Therapy services provided for a fee to children with varied disabilities (major source of funding for organization). Family values, goals, priorities respected. Parents - a major source of support for child; a major source of information for therapist . Center provides no-fee educational opportunities for university students, volunteer opportunities for young children 3 -12 years of age. Young, typically developing children learn value of being in service to others and make contributions to development of children, which no adult can make. An added benefit - typically developing children learn to accept and embrace differences (versus tolerate them).
