Description
Discover. Explore. Lead. The Santa Barbara Historical Museum's overall mission is to promote an understanding of Santa Barbara County's regional history, with a special emphasis placed on its Education Program. The Education Program encourages children to discover and explore the stories and lives of Santa Barbara County's leaders, visionaries, and entrepreneurs--historic and current. Developing stronger connections with the community develops in children a sense of place--from which they may grow and become better stewards of the community. Over 80,000 artifacts in the Museum's collection vaults help to preserve the diverse material culture of the Santa Barbara region. The on-site Gledhill Research Library is rich in archival material and the Research Librarian and staff encourage the research, scholarship and publication of historical materials.
