Safe Haven rescues, rehabilitates, and releases orphaned and injured wildlife native to northern Illinois. We also provide lifelong care for non-releasable animals that are referred to us by agencies nationwide. We provide trained volunteers and safe, secure holding facilities for animals in need of rescue. All services, including medical care, feeding, rehabilitation, and behavioral enrichment, are provided at no cost to the referring individuals and agencies. Many of our permanent-placement residents, which include cougars, foxes, and a bobcat, were formerly illegal exotic "pets." Our educational programs emphasize humane awareness, environmental conservation, and the consequences of the illegal pet trade.
