Description
The Saco Community Garden’s Mission is to create a garden following organic practices, provide affordable garden plots for growing healthy food and flowers, support a community of gardeners and promote a green and sustainable Saco.
The SCG plans to provide healthy soil, a sunny location and a convenient water supply at the site. Educational gardening materials will be available on site as well as garden implements. The garden will provide social-community building opportunities for all ages. Experienced gardeners will be accessible to provide guidance and support. Programs supporting fresh food donations to local food pantry’s (Plant A Row), and Kids Can Grow are included in the SCG’s project and are supported by the Master Gardeners of York County.
