Rogue Opera

Founded in 1976 by Dr. J. Ray Tumbleson, Rogue Opera began presenting operatic performances in the Rogue Valley in Southern Oregon in 1977. It is one of three opera companies in Oregon, and the only one between Eugene and Sacramento. The mission of Rogue Opera is "to present high quality opera to regional audiences, to train young performers, and to direct its resources into the education and enrichment of our youth and community.” Rogue Opera offers community outreach programs such as Opera in the Schools (now in its 24th year), Tickets for Youth, Opera in the Streets and special events throughout the year. A member of OPERA America, Rogue Opera is funded by individual donations, memberships, ticket sales, sponsorships, special events, and grants from foundations and managed funds. Rogue Opera will celebrate its 35th anniversary in 2011.
