Description
The Rogers Park Community Action Network is a 25 year-old multi-ethnic, multi-issue neighborhood organization whose members are dedicated to improving the quality of life and developing a healthy, diverse community. Some accomplishments include: RPCAN is pressing to get living wage jobs for our community from publicly-funded development; RPCAN spearheaded the SAVE OUR LAKEFRONT campaign; RPCAN has organized thousands of residents to remedy building code violations, address "stealth" condo conversions and hold landlords accountable; RPCAN has recruited and trained hundreds of parents in the school improvement process and Local School Councils, won new facilities to relieve overcrowding (e.g. Jordan, New Field); RPCAN is working with the Morse Senior Building to improve security; and RPCAN got the city to fund a Nutritioin Site and Activity Center at Devon-Sheridan CHA building and supports protecting Social SEcuirty, public transit and other issues.
