Riverbend Head Start & Family Services is a non-profit organization that is on a mission to empower children and families to develop positive skills to meet life’s challenges. Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we prepare at-risk children for kindergarten so they will be on the same level as their peers when they graduate from our program. Created in 1965, Head Start is the most successful, longest-running, national school readiness program in the United States. It provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to qualifying children and their families. Families in Madison County, Illinois qualify for Riverbend Head Start programs by having a child between the ages of birth and five. They also must be living below the Federal Poverty line, have a child with a disability or be involved with the Division of Children and Family Services.
