Description
The mission of RSO is to defeat leprosy in this generation and help people in the leprosy colonies become thriving, self-sufficient individuals. We are accomplishing this through three major initiatives: 1) educating the colony children in a safe, healthy environment; 2) assisting leprosy patients in giving up begging by starting their own small businesses through a micro-finance program; and 3) addressing the unique health challenges of the people with leprosy in the colonies by providing medical care through mobile medical units. We currently have built a school for 140 children whose parents have leprosy so they can get an education, avoid getting leprosy, and have a chance to break the cycle of poverty by getting a job instead of having to beg to survive.
