Richstone Family Center

Richstone History Over Thirty years Devoted to Children and Their Families The Richstone Family Center was incorporated in 1974 in Hawthorne. In 1977 Richstone served thirty-five families in one program on one site. In 2004, Richstone served over 4,500 children and their families in 13 different programs based at five sites. The half acre site at 13620 Cordary was purchased in 1979 and the adjacent acre in 1989. The Richstone Jim Murray Children’s Center was built on the new property in 1993-1994. At the same time Richstone staff was expanding programs into the Lennox community with the support of the Lennox School District. With programs flourishing in Lennox, Richstone was able to focus on other community needs. In the last decade of the 20th century programs were started at other school districts, in Harbor City, in the beach sites, and culminating with the founding of the ‘Insuring Our Future’ for young women emancipated from the foster care system.
