The Richmond SPCA is dedicated to practicing and promoting the principle that every life is precious. As such, we are committed to the highest principles of humane care and we provide veterinary treatment and rehabilitation to more than 2,000 sick, injured, neglected and abused homeless animals each year. We care for approximately 350 dogs and cats daily and find loving, permanent homes for about 3,500 animals annually as well as providing full-service, low-cost veterinary care to pets of low-income guardians and adopters, humane education programs for children and adults, and services to support pet retention. The Richmond SPCA is not affiliated with any other private animal welfare organization or SPCA but we regularly transfer pets from local municipal agencies into our care so that they may receive lifesaving treatment and be adopted to loving new homes.
