Description
Resurrection After Exoneration (RAE) is a non-profit, founded and led
by exonerees, that is dedicated to promoting and sustaining a network of
support among Louisiana's wrongly convicted. It is the first of its kind
in the nation. In addition to providing direct services to exonerees and
the formerly incarcerated, RAE is committed to public outreach and
education. To that end, in March 2008 RAE premiered 'Voices of
Innocence', a narrative performance by four exonerees intended to
educate communities about the impact of wrongful incarceration. In
'Voices', the men portray their lives in their own words, offering the
audience a picture of the exoneree as a complete individual, rather than
just a victim. To date, 'Voices' has performed at public venues and
universities nationwide, mostly recently as the central event of Harvard
University's celebration of the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of
Universal Human Rights.
