We give caregivers a break by training and organizing volunteers who then visit with the caregiver's loved one so the caregiver can get out for a while and return refreshed and able to continue with their caregiving responsibilities avoiding caregiver burnout and premature placement of the loved one in an out-of-home residence. We also help the elderly living alone to remain living safely in their own home by providing friendly visits, transportation to doctor appointments, and help with errands/shopping. We also provide caregiver education and safety instruction. Our clients are adults that reside in Shiawassee County, Michigan. We presently are serving 135 cases and have 200 trained active volunteers.
