Description
The mission of Resources for Human Development (RHD) is to provide caring, effective, efficient, and innovative services that help society’s most vulnerable and marginalized people build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities. RHD’s multi-faceted programs serve people with a variety of challenges that include: developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance abuse, and homelessness. In addition to the human services it provides, RHD has programs aimed at effecting lasting social change through economic and community development.
Resources for Human Development, founded in 1970, is composed of 149 programs in ten states and the District of Columbia with 70% of its programs operating in the Philadelphia area. The majority of RHD’s programs still provide residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for people with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness.
