Description
The Recovery and Hope Network (RAHN), Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in Lawrence, Kansas focused on helping adults with severe and persistent mental illness learn to lead full and productive lives, and that recovery from mental illness *is* possible.
Through mental health support groups, socialization activities designed to reduce self-stigma and self-isolation, education on how to advocate for yourself and your healthcare, and…most important…plenty of peer support, RAHN consumers learn to help themselves as well as others.
RAHN (pronounced “rain”) currently serves over 200 people in Douglas County living with mental illnesses such bipolar disorder, severe depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. RAHN consumers actively involved in seeking recovery show significantly reduced rates of hospitalization for their illness, and many have moved on to decent jobs, success in college, and loving, stable relationships, often for the first time in their lives.
