The Rachel Carson Homestead Association (RCHA) has operated as a private, non-profit corporation since 1975 and owns the birthplace and first home of scientist and author Rachel Carson in Springdale, Pennsylvania.
The RCHA promotes the legacy of Rachel Carson’s complete life and work – from ocean stewardship to the safety of human and environmental health through reduction of exposure to synthetic chemicals and other toxicants.
The Mission of the RCHA is to preserve, restore and interpret Rachel Carson’s birthplace and early home and to design and implement educational resources in keeping with her environmental ethic:
Live in harmony with nature
Preserve and learn from natural places
Minimize the impact of man-made chemicals on natural systems of the world
Consider the implications of human actions on the global web of life.
