The Quincy Humane Society is one of the oldest humane organizations in the country. Organized in 1880 as the Quincy Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the primary concern of the organization, “was doing good work, if quiet and modest work, keeping the welfare of the city’s animals.” Just two years later in 1883 our founding civic leaders changed the name to the Quincy Humane Society.
