Description
Quest Therapeutic Services (Quest)) provides therapy services to children with special needs. Quest specializes in hippotherapy which uses the horse as part of an overall treatment plan to improve gross motor, fine motor and communication skills. Licensed therapists use the movement of the horse to improve balance, coordination, and strengthen postural muscles. During a treatment session, the child performs exercises while seated on a bareback pad on the horse. The child is assisted by the therapist and a trained side aide to assume the positions of forward, backward, side sitting, quadruped, tall kneeling, and standing in the stirrups while the horse is moving. The session is highly motivating and children tend to work harder than they would in normal therapy sessions.
