Description
Queerly Divine Ministries is a nonprofit organization devoted to empowering members of the queer community (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning) by affirming their inborn Divinity and equality, while reclaiming relationship with family, spiritual affiliation and community. Whether out or not, all GLBTQ people need to know where there are safe places to live their lives authentically. Between 20 and 40 percent of runaway and homeless youths self-identify as GLBT. One-third of youth who commit suicide are GLBT. Fear of being rejected by family, spiritual home and community drives these tragic consequences and many more. That fear is rooted in and kept alive by the harmful rhetoric of the Far Right and fundamentalist religious teachings – which profoundly impact all of our lives because when there is oppression anywhere there is oppression everywhere.
