Proyecto Horizonte is a non-profit organization located in the community of Ushpa-Ushpa in Cochabamba, Bolivia. The project was founded in 2004 by a private initiative with the mission of fighting poverty and improving human development. Since its establishment Proyecto Horizonte has grown to include a nursery, a school, a health center, sports and art programs, microfinance and microenterprise initiatives, a women's support group, an artisan's group, and more. It currently it serves over 800 children and has over 70 employees, all of which come from Bolivia. Proyecto Horizonte has successfully supporting its community and plans to replicate its work in more places in Bolivia and other countries in the future.
Proyecto Horizonte is passionate about giving the people, especially the children, a chance to further their horizons through education, support and community development.
Our vision is to provide a well-structured base for sustainable development and act as a blueprint for other projects demonstrating the efficiency and success of a privately managed and organized initiative.
In the US, Proyecto Horizonte is supported though the Bolivian Charity Foundation (BCF). BCF partners with children’s homes and schools in Bolivia to improve health and educational conditions with the ultimate goal that every child and youth whose lives we touch can make a better future for him/herself and become a contributing member to society. BCF connects those who want to make a difference in the world by ensuring that one-hundred percent of their donation goes to those in Bolivia who demonstrate initiative and responsibility but need a helping hand to overcome the unfortunate circumstances in which they were born.
