Description
Project Hope began in late 2005 as an initiative to fill a desperate need among youth in North/Northeast Portland. Far too many youth, disconnected from the education system and without access to living wage jobs are facing great challenges in becoming successful; in school, career and family life. Their futures are bleak – low wage work, unstable employment, reliance on social services, and a high likelihood of involvement in the criminal justice system. Through our innovative and effective Academic, Employment & Life Skills programs, we are making a difference in Portland, one person at a time. Begun as a grassroots project almost two years ago, Project Hope has gone through Strategic and Business Planning to professionalize and expand our organization, offering an intensive program of “deep services” to build our capacity and effectively reach more youth than before.
