Project GRAD Akron, a non-profit educational reform program, began in the Akron Public Schools in 2002. Project GRAD Akron's mission is to increase the high school and college graduation rates of the students in the Project GRAD Akron schools. Currently, Project GRAD Akron is located in five of the Buchtel Cluster schools (Buchtel High School, Perkins Middle School, Crouse Community Learning Center, Rankin and Schumacher Elementary Schools) of the Akron Public Schools.
Project GRAD Akron's services include academic support and tutoring, college awareness and readiness services, social services support to the students, extensive professional teacher training; and scholarship support. Additionally, each graduating senior from Buchtel High School who successfully fulfills the rigorous Project GRAD Akron Learning Contract is awarded a $4,000.00 scholarship to college.
