Description
Founded in 1984 as the American Music Theater Festival, Inc., our mission is to advance the unique American art form of Music Theater over a wide aesthetic range – including opera, music drama, musical comedy, and experimental work. Located in Philadelphia, PA, the Prince also celebrates the music theater legacy with revivals and cabaret performances. We provide award-winning education programs for teens, and outreach to diverse audiences. Our aim is to create new musical theater at the highest level of excellence and of enduring artistic value. Artists whose work we nurtured early in their careers include Adam Guettel, George C. Wolfe, Michael John La Chiusa, Tina Landau, Julie Taymor, & Garth Fagan, Ted Sperling and dozens more who have become leaders of the contemporary theater.
