Description
The mission of Prevent Blindness Indiana is to prevent blindness and preserve sight for Indiana residents through screening, education, public awareness and research. Our vision for all Hoosiers is Sight for Life.
We screen. In 2007, PBI staff and volunteers screened 25,313 children and 3,972 adults, resulting in 6,499 vision care referrals for children and 1,281 vision care referrals for adults.
We advocate. PBI is developing a statewide vision coalition that will affect all Hoosiers. PBI participates in the annual Eyes on Capitol Hill project, when a delegation of PBI staff and Hoosiers affected by vision disorders talk with lawmakers in Washington to educate them about issues.
We support groundbreaking vision research.
