Description
Polish Assistance was incorporated in 1956 with the aim of giving financial aid to Polish immigrants, especially the elderly. Our present activity, again focusing on the New York metropolitan area, consists of aiding Polish individuals directly or to subsidize care through other institutions, that are in a position to provide services. Direct assistance is given on a monthly basis, usually to supplement low social security payments or to cover extraordinary medical bills. Primary institutional help goes to two nursing homes run by Polish nuns to whom we refer individuals in need of their care.
