Photographic Preservation Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit devoted to preserving historically significant photographic collections through digitization, documentation and archival care. Commissioned by museums, libraries and other institutions which lack the funds and expertise necessary to preserve their historical photographic collections, PPS digitizes the images and documents the collection’s metadata, at no cost to the owner. The originals are then returned in archival materials enabling the owner to properly store and preserve them. The newly digitized collection and its metadata will also be presented so as to be used in whatever manner deemed appropriate. PPS can incorporate these images and metadata into its online Virtual Museum, offering these historic treasures to a global audience.
