Description
The Philoctetes Center has quietly emerged as a gem of New York City cultural life. Our roundtable discussions provide a unique opportunity for inter-disciplinary exchange, leading to creative insights and new directions in research. By bringing together leading figures in the sciences, arts and humanities, the Center expands the perspectives of scholars and artists in diverse disciplines, and provides educational opportunities for a local and online audience.
Through videos, podcasts, and transcripts of our events, Philoctetes has established a broad online community, in addition to the capacity audiences that attend our New York events. We’ve received messages of appreciation from around the world from people who enjoy these resources. A sampling of the leading minds and talents we’ve been able to bring to Philoctetes includes Nobel prize winning biologists Gerald Edelman and Christian de Duve, Edward Albee, Rick Moody, John Turturro, and Dan Rather.
