Pazzaz Inc. is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to improving the future life prospects of youth through quality, customized self-development and academic programs designed to promote personal achievement and self-determination. Founded in 1995, Pazzaz has 14 staff members, numerous volunteers, serving 130 students a week. In 2004 and 2005, Pazzaz opened two satellite centers in two low-income apartments.
Pazzaz’s learning environment extends beyond tutoring/homework assistance. Through an individualized approach centered on positive interaction, high expectations and long-term relationships, children are taught to believe in themselves.
Pazzaz’s programs include: small group tutoring/homework assistance for students grades 1–12, reading program, weekly teen TV show, high school speech contest ($2000 scholarship awarded),family counseling program, co-hosts a back to school conference (2005 nearly 1000 parents and students attended), and parent/child advocacy.
